ABOUT US:
Buckshee' burst into the Colchester area in 1990 quickly gaining a huge following with their very distinctive interpretation of world music.
Mick (guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin,
harmonica, percussion, vocals) began his professional career playing R&B
on ITV's 'Thank your Lucky Stars' in the early 60s. Since then he has never
stopped working, either in bands or as a session musician.
Mick met Mo whilst playing with 'Alias Ron Kavana' (Folk Roots 'Band of the
Year' 1989)

Mo (guitar, tin whistles, vocals, tenor and alto sax) was playing oboe, recorder and guitar when they met, switching to tin whistle and sax in an astonishingly short time. From there, the duo 'Buckshee' was formed!
Together we aim to create a unique live and energetic sound that gets people
up and dancing in pubs, clubs, festivals, weddings, parties and, yes, wakes;
adapting our huge repertoire to every gig - without the all-too-common 'backing
music'.

WHAT SORT OF MUSIC?

ARLINGTON'S, IPSWICH. NEW YEAR'S EVE 2008
Well.........................
'Swinging with deceptive ease from cajun to country to carribean; from township jive to bluegrass; from Irish to soca; Guinness to Jamieson; and all the rock and roll and swing favourites. This duo - and trio sometimes - sounds like a five-piece band- without artificial backing. Mick, Mo and Grace Weaver work their way through a vast array of instruments - guitars, fiddle, tin whistles, banjo, saxophones, mandolin, drums, harmonicas, singing in harmonies - all accompanied by feats of mind-boggling co-ordination on percussion. See them if you can.'
